A Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Juba on Sunday urged political leaders in the country to seek God’s wisdom and put aside selfish interest in order to serve their citizens.

Fr Oliver Nyara during his Sunday homily at St Charles Lwanga Chapel of St Joseph’s Parish in Juba, criticized national leaders for not caring for their people, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said South Sudan leaders resorted to luxurious life and forgot to deliver services to their suffering citizens who are suffering within Juba and other towns.

Fr Nyara urged the leaders to emulate like King Solomon who asked God for wisdom to guide his people, but not earthly riches.

He said for the last three years states and national governments continue to pass budgets for roads’ construction, but nothing was done and road conditions are getting from bad to worse.

Fr Nyara questioned why soldiers’ salaries are not being paid on time and their children’s need all services, yet they protect the country.

He called on South Sudanese to continue praying for peace in the country.

The priest said most leaders are church-goers, but they fail to cultivate the spirit of King Solomon.

He called on citizens to emulate the spirit of King Solomon, urging parents not to put much interest on money, but teach their children leadership at home.
