SPLA spokesperson said opposition forces re-launched an attack on Ayod town of Jonglei State.
Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang in a statement to South Sudan Television on Sunday evening said, forces loyal to Riek Machar Teny re-attacked Ayod at 6:00 AM, but the government army repulsed them leaving 43 opposition soldiers dead.
He said last Monday government forces killed 61 opposition forces including three commanders during their first attack on Ayod.
Colonel Aguer re-echoed army’s commitment to respect the ceasefire agreement, but that they would defend themselves when attacked.
Opposition forces could not be reached for comments.
