National Legislative Assembly Information and Communication Chairperson on Monday told journalists that lawmakers now consider the unsigned Media Acts by President Salva Kiir active law.

Thomas Wani Kundu said the assented Media Bills by the National Legislature became laws automatically after 30 days without signature of the President according to 2011 Transitional Constitution.

The Information Chairperson explained that lawmakers are going to ask the Ministry of Justice to print the Media Laws for distribution to public including security personnel to understand their rights.

The legislature passed the Media Bills for signing by President Kiir in December after adopting his observations and recommendations.
