Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD Special Envoys expressed sadness and condemnation over attack in Nassir by SPLM/A–in Opposition forces on Sunday.
In a statement, the Special Envoys appealed to the warring parties to remain committed to the cessation of hostilities’ agreements signed and exercise maximum restraints to desist from any further violations.
The mediation team described attack by SPLM/A in Opposition in Nasir on government positions on July 20 as unfortunate.
IGAD Joint Technical Committee in Juba based on report of the Monitoring and Verification Team in Nassir said the SPLM/A in Opposition crossed the Sobat River from the East to attack SPLA.
It regretted the attack which came when the mediation team concluded consultations with the opposition leadership in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on how to implement the agreements and move the peace process forward.
