The National Ministry of Education Undersecretary on Tuesday announced that 271 Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs failed to turn up for the South Sudan Secondary School Certificate examinations.
Michael Lopuke Lotyam said they are concerned with the rate of absenteeism among IDPs’ candidates in war affected states including UN-House, Juba na Bari and Renk County examinations’ centres.
He added that 224 out of 304 registered candidates in Renk County of Upper Nile State did not show up for the exams.
Mr Lopuke reported 19 absentees out of 44 registered candidates in UN-House and 28 out of 91 at Juba Na Bari examination centre in Juba.
The Undersecretary hailed candidates, teachers, parents and development partners for making the exams’ conduct a success.
