Yei River County on Wednesday celebrated the third independence anniversary in Mugwo Payam while the Municipality celebrated at Yei Freedom Square.

Addressing the masses, Commissioner Juma David Augustine said the aim of holding celebrations in payams is to encourage people embark on agriculture for self-reliance, Easter Radio reported.

He told citizens that services come from the national budget that spells out government’s development priorities.

Commissioner Juma explained that if government does not have money, it would not implement promised plans.

He cited insufficient private sector development that hinders delivery of services forcing citizens to rely on the government.

The Commissioner revealed that the county capital expenditure needs to be increased beyond the money sent from the state to ease provision of services including hospitals, school and roads maintenance.
