Lakes State SPLM Youth League representative during the third independence anniversary celebration in Rumbek on Wednesday decried high dowry payment which affects young people.
Tito Makur said youths in the state noticed that high dowry continue to cause insecurity and corruption, Good News Radio reported.
He explained that many public officials take loot funds to meet their sons’ high dowry while youth engage in cattle rustling to meet the same demand.
Mr Makur called on the state government to create job opportunities for youth to reduce crimes
He noted that low teachers’ salaries are affecting quality of education.
The SPLM youth representative recognized the ongoing developmental activities in the state under Lakes Governor Matur Chut Dhuol.
