Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs at United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS bases in Juba said there was no reason to celebrate independence.

Pastor Peter Chuol lamented that there was nothing to celebrate when 1.5 million South Sudanese were forced to live in camps inside the country or abroad.

He said as the country commemorated the anniversary, the mood of civilians was indifferent.

A policeman Isaac Kuech said he does not feel like a citizen because it appeared that only some tribes gained independence.
