The President of the Republic while addressing the third independence anniversary celebration under the theme: ‘South Sudan: One nation one people’ commended Cobra Faction leader for reaching a peace deal with the government.
Salva Kiir Mayardit congratulated David Yau Yau for his courageous decision to stop war and choose peace, Bakhita Radio reported.
The President said the agreement reached would soon be signed into law for immediate implementation after the independence celebration.
He called on SPLM/A opposition leader Riek Machar and his group to stop hostilities and commit to peaceful resolution.
President Kiir pledged to continue respecting the amnesty he gave to those who pick guns against the government to participate in the development of the nation.
He said the continuation of the ‘senseless war’ would claim many civilians’ lives by war and natural disasters.
