President Kiir says SPLM internal crisis should not destroy national gains

The President of the Republic said SPLM’s internal mid December crisis should not be allowed to destroy South Sudanese liberation struggle gains.
 
Addressing the third independence anniversary celebrations in Juba on Wednesday, President Salva Kiir Mayardit called on all South Sudanese to exert efforts to stop the ongoing bleeding in the young nation.
 
He appreciated his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his intervention during December 15 crisis.
 
President Kiir said without Museveni’s prompt intervention, many people would have lost their lives.
 
Ugandan President Museveni told South Sudanese political leaders to learn from the challenges of their crisis and find solutions in order to succeed in the future.
 
He urged the government of South Sudan to learn from the liberation struggle experiences.
 
The third independence anniversary celebrations under the theme: ‘South Sudan: One nation, one people’ was coloured with many traditional dances.
 
Vice President of the Sudan, President of Uganda, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Swaziland and Speaker of Ethiopian National Parliament, other foreign diplomats in Juba, national and Central Equatoria governments’ officials and many citizens attended the ceremony.
