Torit Catholic Emeritus Bishop urged Eastern Equatoria government to provide food to people of Kapoeta under hunger threats after their crop failure due to lack of rains.
Bishop Paride Taban requested the government to provide food for work for people to cultivate and minimize the looming hunger, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He acknowledged the contribution of the UN World Food Programme.
Bishop Taban also encouraged traders to supply food commodities to affected communities to exchange with animals.
He called on the government to provide security to traders to reach safely with their goods.
The Emeritus Catholic Bishop sounded the hunger outcry at Our Lady of Sorrows-Kapoeta Parish on Sunday.
