National Education Minister told journalists in Juba that one thousand three hundred and fifty-three Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs from Jonglei, Upper Nile and Unity States are sitting South Sudan Secondary School certificate exams.
John Gai Yoah said 13,721 candidates and some 163 refugee students are sitting exams in 101 centers across the country.
He explained that the 2014 exams’ candidates comprise 9,615 males and 4,106 females.
Dr Gai urged students to spend less time in listening to radios and avoid attending world cup during the exams’ days.
He advised headmasters and teachers to ensure that centres are noise free.
Undersecretary Michael Lopuke Lotyam warned that the ministry has mechanisms to detect any person or schools that would be involved in cheating cases.
He said two schools in Eastern Equatoria last year were held due to suspected cheating cases, cautioning that they would not encourage the act.
