Yei Catholic Diocese on Tuesday evening bade a farewell to Fr Alex Lo’diong Sakor who is expected to leave for Rome, Italy to study scripture.

Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe told priests, sisters and the laity that most of the priests in Sudan and South Sudan pursued canon law and that people could not know what they were doing in the course of studying it.

Bishop Lodu said few priests studied dogmatic theology without a professor in scripture.

The Catholic prelate explained that it was in the interest of Fr Alex to choose scripture study, adding that the choice depends on the interest of the individual and the need of dioceses.

He stressed on the need for more professors in theology and scripture for both countries, lamenting that there is lack of scripture professors in St Paul’s National Major Seminary.

Fr Alex Lo’diong Sakor commended Yei catholic Bishop, priests, Christians and the college for accepting and supporting him.

He said he chose to pursue scripture or Biblical theology studies when he was from his seminary.

Fr Lo’diong promised to return and serve Yei Catholic Diocese and South Sudan at large with the skills and knowledge he would gain from his studies.
