Eastern Equatoria records over 140 cholera cases

Eastern Equatoria state registered 142 cholera cases in the last two weeks.
 
State Health Minister Margaret Itto said they admitted 86 adults and 23 children and other people who died before reaching the hospital since the beginning of the cholera outbreak, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
She said the hospital used to discharge those who recovered on daily basis and provide to them health education and chlorine take-home.
 
Dr Itto said the death cases were those brought to the hospital very late and those with collapsed veins.
 
She said cholera victims rushed earlier to the hospital survived.
 
The minister said health officials are working hard to manage and treat patients brought to health facilities.
 
She urged citizens to drink clean water and use toilets to prevent the rise of cholera in the state.
