Yei River County Commissioner of Central Equatoria said the country’s economy could be boosted through agriculture than depending on oil as the main source of revenue in South Sudan.

Juma David Augustine called on state and national Agriculture Ministries to support youths through cultivation to fight food insecurity in the country, Easter Radio reported.

He reiterated that engaging youths in farming would reduce economic dependency.

The Commissioner suggested that 40 percent of the state budget should be for supporting agricultural sector for sustainable development.

He last week announced that the county authority set 2014 as a strategic year towards agricultural revolution.
