UNICEF on Monday urged Juba City Council authorities to enforce orders to help fight cholera to zero level.

UNICEF WASH Cluster Coordinator in South Sudan Jesse Pleger urged the Council to strengthen policies in the fight against the disease, Bakhita Radio reported.

He called on the County to control water tankers from taking water direct for the Nile and force sewage tankers to its designated place rather than emptying it into the Nile.

Juba Land and Development Deputy Mayor Festo Abdul-Aziz said they listened to the 55 quarter councils’ report on lack of incentives, gumboots and safety.

He said the Council also monitors water supply in the town, calling on the public to keep the environment clean to curb cholera.
