The national Education minister on Tuesday graduated 218 teachers from different states in Yei River County after undergoing two-week training under the theme: ‘Empower women through functional literacy’.
John Gai Yoah told the graduates and pupils that education is one of the tools for change through training to realize effective development, Easter Radio reported.
United Nation Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova stressed on the need to train more teachers to improve education standard in the country.
Dr Bokova said people should continue because literacy is a starting point for dignity to practice skills.
The two-week training organized by UNESCO with funds from the United States Government drew participants from Central, Western and Eastern Equatoria, Lakes, Jonglei and Western Bahr El Ghazal States.
