Western Bahr El Ghazal Governor said they laid off 305 civil servants, a step to clear ghost names from the government pay roll.
Rizik Zachariah Hassan said the State Public Service ministry scrapped 162 ghost names and another 143 employees who reached retirement age mostly from Health and Education ministries, Voice of Hope reported.
He said ghost names owners failed to claimed their names in one month time and that the ministry could not trace their files.
Governor Zachariah clarified that those on pension list would be allowed to receive three month’s salaries before deleting their names from the pay roll.
He pointed out that classified civil servants without academic documents in their files would be dismissed.
In 2012 more than 500 employees who stood in 2010 election were terminated from the public service without benefits with majority being teachers.
