Eastern Equatoria Governor called on Torit Municipal councillors to accept equal justice for Torit Mayor over corruption allegation.
Louis Lobong Lojore after receiving impeachment letter on Tuesday told the councillors that the committee he formed should verify allegations against the Mayor before taking any action, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He said that it was not just to take action against an individual without giving the accused an opportunity to answer and justify allegations.
Governor Lobong said he wanted to clarify complaints why he suspended the Mayor.
The Governor explained that 40 percent of the revenues collected in town was supposed to be used by Torit County, 40 percent for Municipal council and 20 percent be reserved for development.
He complained that the state never received any financial report on the revenues collected in Torit town since the establishment of Municipal Council.
Governor Lobong said he acted on the letter of the councillors by suspending the Mayor and forming a committee to investigate allegations.
