Children while celebrating African Child Day with drama, dances and poems in Juba on Monday, called for peace, justice and access to education in the country.
They urged politicians to stop war and think before doing something bad to children, Bakhita Radio reported.
UNICEF Deputy Country representative Ettie Higgins said the theme: ‘a child friendly, quality, free and compulsory education for all children in Africa’ for the Day was South Sudan’s children call for peace.
She said more than 700 hundred thousand children in South Sudan are out of school due to the ongoing conflict subjected to violence, armed recruitment and separated from parents.
The Deputy Country representative appealed to the warring parties to resolve their conflict peacefully for children to resume their normal lives of going to school.
South Sudan Save the Children Director of Program, Development and Quality Education Cairin Brady said she witnessed tough times where children were denied access to education, health care and life in South Sudan.
South Sudan conflicting parties were accused of child abuse by arming children to fight.
