St Kizito Parish Munuki of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba on Tuesday joined the world’s Catholics to commemorate Uganda Martyrs’ Day and its 27th anniversary under the theme: ”Happy are those who from now on die in the service of the Lord”.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Juba Santo Loku Pio who presided over the Eucharistic celebrations urged the congregation to stand firm in faith, advising the faithful to examine themselves before taking a direction, Bakhita Radio reported.
He called on the Catholic Christians to follow the lifestyle of St Kizito who led a humble life.
Bishop Loku urged all Catholic Christians to demonstrate a life of martyrdom in everything they do.
He said those who speak the truth and are being marginalized are the true martyrs.
St Charles Lwanga Chapels of St Joseph’s Parish also joined the world to celebrate Uganda Martyrs Day.
Over ten thousand pilgrims from all over the world including South Sudan gathered at Namugogo Catholic shrine in Uganda to pay homage to the 22 Catholics and the 23 Anglicans who were killed by King Kabaka Mwanga in 1886.
