South Sudan Women on Saturday gathered at Dr John Garang Mausoleum and marched to Nyakuron Cultural Centre to kneel before God for peace, believing and trusting that it is through prayers that the country would realize total peace.

The Women prayer was held under the theme: ‘If my people who are call by my name, shall humble themselves, pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land’.

The Director of EVE Organization for Women Development Rita Martin said they came before God seeking for forgiveness and healing to realize lasting peace.

The Woman leader lamented that no South Sudanese woman wants war, because the people dying are their children and husbands.

A Member of the National Parliament representing Jonglei State Adeng Leek Deng said one could not enjoy any position without peace.

Women are the most vulnerable people of all wars and their rights abused including raping, killing and apparently become widows.

They cry to the warring parties to listen to them and resolve their differences through peaceful means to restore peace in South Sudan for development to take root.
