UN Secretary-General Special Representative for South Sudan three-year’s term is ending in July.
Hilde F Johnson told President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday that she will depart South Sudan and a successor takes over with the mandate of protecting civilians.
The Special Representative told the President that the Council members said they consulted the Foreign Ministry on several occasions prior to their decision.
Ms Johnson said it was a real honor to serve the country and that South Sudan really has a strong place in her heart and will continue to have that.
