Yei forms cholera committees

Yei River County Health Department with partner organizations on Friday formed surveillance and taskforce standby committees to cater for any cholera breakout in the county.
 
County Health Director Simon Loro on Thursday advised citizens to wash their hands with soap or ash before handling food and proper disposal of waste.
 
He urged people to drink safe water and keep clean water by covering containers.
 
Dr Loro advised citizens to seek medical care immediately in case of any symptoms of cholera infection, including vomiting and diarrheal.
 
He stressed that the epidemic is extremely a dangerous disease characterized by severe watery diarrhoea with vomiting; affecting all ages including children, adults, and old people which can kill within hours if untreated.
 
Expanded Program on Immunization Supervisor Gulliver Wani Paul urged parents to be ready for the coming four days polio national immunization days from 27 to 30 May targeting children below five years of age.
