UNMISS Chief commends Yau Yau for peaceful resolution

United Nations Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS Head who is the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Thursday received and hailed South Sudan Democratic Movement/Army or SSDM/A Cobra Faction leader David Yau Yau for peaceful resolution of conflict in Pibor County of Jonglei State.
 
Hilde F. Johnson welcomed the agreement reached in Addis Ababa on May 9 between the government and SSDM/A, commending David Yau Yau for his role in facilitating a peaceful resolution.
 
She reiterated the Mission’s readiness to support full implementation of the agreement, laying the foundation of a durable peace for all communities of Pibor and surrounding counties.
 
General Yau Yau underlined the urgency of implementing the agreement and providing the people of Greater Pibor Administrative Area with peace dividends to build trust and stability among the affected communities.
 
Ms Johnson offered General Yau Yau opportunity to brief diplomatic corps in the UNMISS compound about the implementation of the agreement.
 
The Special Representative expressed hope that the government and SPLM/A in Opposition could follow suit and resolve differences peacefully to end conflict.
