Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD said the Agreement signed by President Salva Kiir and SPLM/A in opposition leader Dr Riek Machar changed negotiations’ landscape into inclusive, representative and forward looking.
In a statement on Monday, It said the agreement established two working committees: Security Arrangements and Humanitarian Affairs and Political.
IGAD added that the two committees would produce working documents on implementation modalities matrix for the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement and the framework for political negotiations for settling the crisis.
IGAD’s Special Envoys urged the warring parties to honour the agreements as they announced adjournment of peace negotiations for twelve days.
The statement added that during the recess, IGAD Special Envoys would visit South Sudan to consult with different stakeholders.
The next phase of the mediation process would commence on June 4, 2014.
