A Children Ward Nurse of Mother of Mercy Hospital said a 31 year-old male teacher raped eight-year old pupil of Kubang Primary School in Heiban County, Nuba Mountains.
Kukani Ibrahim told Voice of Peace on Monday that the case happened on Sunday when the girl was sent by her mother who was a cook to take food to the teacher in the school compound.
He said the child was critically wounded but her conditions were improving.
Mr Ibrahim said they would examine the rapist to determine whether he is HIV AIDS negative and safe from other sexual transmitted diseases.
Mr Ibrahim said police immediately after the incident arrested the rapist and the child was taken for treatment.
He described the defilement as a child abuse, calling on the community to advocate for children’s rights.
