National Elections Commission Chairperson told journalists in Juba on Wednesday that they are preparing for general elections in the near future without mentioning the exact date.
Abednego Akok Kachuol said contracts were signed for renting an office and they are advertising positions to be filled by senior national servants to prepare for the elections.
He said the elections are postponed but that would not interrupt their preparations.
The Chairperson said for elections to be calm, there must be peace for political parties to access various communities to explain their policies.
Earlier President Salva Kiir said general elections would take place in 2018.
