South Sudan Red Cross distributed food and non-food items to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs on Thursday in Eastern Equatoria State in a bid to celebrate its day of foundation.
World Red Cross Day is marked under the theme ‘My story’ to recall worldwide activities of the organization to disadvantaged persons, Emmanuel Radio reported.
Red Cross launched series of activities including distribution of relief items, carrying out first aid and helping the disadvantaged persons.
An official David Oyet said over 500 households in Budi County recently benefited from sorghum, cooking oil, beans, sugar, bucket and blanket among others.
Over 400 IDPs in Lafon-Lopa County received food and non-food items while more than seven thousand in Torit town received non-food items in April.
More than 800 IDPs in Ikwoto County are expected to receive relief aid on Tuesday next week.
