HASS Filling Station stopped supplying fuel to Eastern Equatoria State Parliament over unpaid debt.
Acting Speaker of the State Assembly Paul Napwon told legislators about the fuel cut on Monday without labelling any blame for the fuel debt.
He told Emmanuel Radio that an estimated total of 40 thousand South Sudanese Pounds per month, equivalent of 60 per cent operational cost of the assembly was not cleared for at least two good months.
The Acting Speaker confirmed that at least two Land Cruisers for transporting legislators were off road due to the fuel cut.
Speaker Napwon blamed the ongoing crisis for the failure to clear fuel costs.
He said he remains optimistic that the debt would be settled when national government remit some cash to the state treasury.
Mr Napwon added that security remains a priority and moving by cars becomes secondary under the circumstances.
The Acting Speaker encouraged Members of Parliament and other civil servants to endure salaries’ delay.
