Lainya County Forestry Assistant Commissioner said most of the trees were cut down, urging citizens to plant more to replace the destroyed ones.
Manju Stevenson Sekwat said on Wednesday that they registered 169 acres of land in Mukaya and Kenyi Payams for planting trees, Easter Radio reported.
He said they visited Mukaya and Kenyi Payams on Tuesday to acquaint with the challenges facing agro-forestry farmers.
Mr Manju promised that he would train agro-forestry farmers on self-raising of seedlings and planting trees for recommended method of tree planting.
