Tonj South Mayor sets expired goods ablaze

Tonj South County Mayor in Warrap State on Tuesday said he authorised the burning of several expired goods including 370 cartons of biscuits, five bags of beans, three sacks of okra powder and one bag of yellow beans.
 
Machar Ater added that two cartons of sweets and cream oil were also burn at Tonj main market, Don Bosco Radio reported.
 
He said some of the expired goods were discovered in November, 2013 and that authorities stored them for burning on Tuesday.
 
The mayor accused some traders of exploiting illiteracy and ignorance of local communities by selling to them expired goods at night in market.
 
Mr Ater urged all traders to stop selling expired goods to consumers who are their brothers and sisters.
 
Mr Ater also advised people to be careful on buying things from the market to avoid buying expire one.
