Western Bahr El-Ghazal Governor on Tuesday said Six SPLA soldiers who allegedly defected from Wau Division 5 garrison and Mapel training centre are in UNMISS compound for protection.

The Six were identified to be Major Simon Mangok Wuor, who was in charge of patrol in Wau and Major William Deng Pandiang plus four other captains, Voice of Hope reported.

Rizik Zachariah Hassan said he was still communicating with the remaining comrades in the bush to come back home.

The governor said the Six SPLA army should be kept in UNMISS compound because they are still traumatized and cannot mix with others in the barrack easily.

Major Simon Mangok confessed that he ran because of fear and that he had no intention to defect, reiterating his commitment to serve and cooperate with the state government.

He appealed to his colleagues who are still on run to come back home.

Major William Deng testified that he came from Raja for treatment but that rumours made him to quit the town.
