South Sudan Council of Churches urged government and SPLM/A in opposition to stop all sorts of violence immediately, appealing for unity in diversity among ethnic groups.
In a pastoral statement the council said ‘We are all sisters and brothers created in the image of God with dignity.’
It declared to the nation that everybody is the brother’s keeper, ordering the warring parties to stop the war now.
The Council joined the United Nations in condemning targeted killings of civilians based on their ethnic origins and nationality.
