UNICEF South Sudan Chief of Strategic Communication appealed to donors to increase funding to help Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs sheltering in Bentiu UN base as the number doubled following recent capture by opposition forces.
Doune Porter told Bakhita Radio that the general population in the camp faces water shortages and increased risk of diseases.
She added that they receive one liter of water per day a situation she described ‘difficult’.
Ms Porter grieved that children who survived the recent aggression endured unspeakable violence, saying they must not suffer in places that provide safety.
She called for government to ensure that children are protected and have safe access to humanitarian aid.
