Peace commission urges negotiators to embrace peace, reconciliation

Members of National Platform for Peace and Reconciliation on Thursday met with government peace talk’s delegation to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, calling for serious peace and reconciliation consideration.
 
In a statement issued on Thursday Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul, Chuol Rambang and David Okweir plus Civil Society delegates met Chief Negotiator Nhial Deng Nhial, pressing government to embrace dialogue spirit as the only solution to the crisis.
 
Mr Rambang presented a number of documents to the government delegation, demanding that National Platform for Peace and Reconciliation should be included as an observer member in the talks.
 
Archbishop Daniel Deng told the delegation that the Platform was formed to consolidate voices calling for peace in the country.
 
David Okweir said though the Platform has government instituted peace bodies, it would play an impartial role in the peace talk’s process.
 
Government Chief Negotiator Nhial Deng Nhial commended the new idea of voices of the civil society being consolidated into a unified body.
