United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, UNOCHA reported on Thursday that food partners reached 702,200 people affected by the ongoing conflict in South Sudan.
In the report UNOCHA said food assistance was provided to 534,300 other food insecure people including refugees and displaced people in areas not directly affected by the violence.
The report highlighted a total of 57 thousand metric tons of mixed commodities’ food dispatched to aid troubled South Sudanese since January 1 2014.
UNOCHA added that in conflict-affected states, livelihoods partners covered about 28 thousand families.
The report highlighted that the response is facing significant logistical constraints, with procurement delays, making supplies undeliverable by land except by air.
The report highlighted that markets are still experiencing fragmentation and a lack of storage facilities, causing severe inflation and fear of worsening food insecurity.
