The President of the Republic called on citizens and agro-based institutions operating in the country to intensify efforts to produce food for local consumption and exports.
Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday appealed to development partners to support initiatives intended to produce food for families and institutions.
He expressed determination to end hunger by 2014 as he earlier on promised.
President Kiir admitted that much more has to be done including infrastructural development to push the country forward.
He added that mid December crisis would not deter government from considering food security a major program to accomplish.
President Kiir made the statement while launching Food Security Council on Wednesday in Juba under the theme: ‘Food Security for Resilience and Sustainable Development’.
