Yei River County Commissioner encouraged citizens to get involved in farming to meet market demands within and beyond.
Commissioner Juma Augustine said government identified agriculture as the engine of the country’s economy, Easter Radio reported.
He called on public to make good use of the soil in 2014.
Mr Juma added that the government is working hard to establish policies to support farmers through cooperative banks.
The commissioner cautioned masses against deforestation, pointing out its negative impact on the eco-system.
He advised residents to plant more trees to replace the ones already cut down.
