The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross or ICRC in South Sudan raised concern about the worsening humanitarian situation in the country especially the ethnic targeting of civilians for killing.
Melker Mabeck told the press on Friday that he was in the country for two years, but in four months now South Sudan is in difficult situation, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said there are thousands of people displaced, making it difficult for the humanitarian assistance to reach them in the wake of heavy rainfall season.
Mr Mabeck explained that humanitarian attention was mainly directed to specific areas directly affected by the conflict.
He observed that there would be need to help IDPs in areas indirectly affected by conflict.
ICRC is distributing seeds to farmers and livestock herders in violence affected communities to maintain their livelihoods.
