Eastern Equatoria Legislative Assembly’s Economics Development, Finance and Public Accounts Committee observed that the demolition of Torit Omoliha Market two months ago greatly affected revenue collections.
The committee said that due to inefficiency of revenue collections, some traders were forced to leave Torit for Juba and other places for business and others resorted to hawking their goods, Emmanuel Radio reported.
It added that collection of revenue by Torit County, Municipality, Security personnel, Department of Commerce and the Patrol Police was not harmonized leading to dubious money collections.
Torit traders last month appealed to the State Revenue Authority to regulate tax collection following complains of high prices in the market by the consumers.
Torit Mayor Stephen Lobali earlier revealed plans of harmonizing tax collection through State Finance Ministry.
