Lakes appeals to IGAD to respect rule of law

Lakes State leadership comprising of National, Council of States, State MPs and the executive appealed to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD to respect the rule of law based on legitimacy of the elected government.
 
In their communiqué on Thursday, State Information Minister Marik Nanga Marik reminded IGAD not to throw the country into more chaos and lost of hope by South Sudanese, Good News Radio reported.
 
The leadership called on government team to remain steadfast in negotiating an agreement that respects the principle of peaceful transfer of power enshrined in the Transitional Constitution.
 
The leadership urged SPLM/A in opposition to embrace peace to end the suffering of innocent civilians in the country.
 
Lakes State leadership and civil society organizations are currently conducting grassroots reconciliation processes to end inter-ethnic violence that led to several deaths across the state in the last few weeks.
