Drivers’ Union to create new routes in Juba

Public Transport Drivers’ Union Deputy Secretary General revealed plans to create new routes in Juba City and erect shelters in bus parks.
 
Kwaje Obede Manasseh told CRN on Thursday that the Union needs to render services to the public through creation of new routes.
 
He added that plans were underway to erect shelters in parks to protect passengers from rain and sun heat.
 
Mr Obede revealed that the Union submitted new routes’ proposal plan to Juba City Council, suggesting Customs-Tombura-Konyokonyo and Konyokonyo-Juba Na Bari via Muduria roundabout routes.
 
He added that the proposal also covers Customs-Lologo and Hai-Game-Mobil roundabout routes to minimize traffic jam in the city.
 
The Deputy Secretary General appealed for collaboration with the traffic police to coordinate information of demonstrations in the city to avoid inconveniences.
 
Mr Obede said coordination with the government would help drivers arrange appropriate routes for public transport.
 
The Deputy Secretary General warned authorities against licensing underage drivers.
 
He condemned the recent abrupt wounded soldiers’ demonstration which paralyzed traffic movements in the city.
 
The Secretary General decried drivers’ arrogance and disrespect for pedestrians by over speeding even at zebra-crossing points.
 
He warned drivers against wrong parking and oppressing pedestrians’ rights to cross roads.
