Eastern Equatoria Parliament is summoning Torit Mayor and Physical Infrastructure Minister on Monday to explain the issue of the Model Market after traders closed their shops in protest.
One MP, Peter Otim Karlo accused the Mayor of causing 90 percent of the problems of the market and the minister of causing the remaining ten percent, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He suggested establishing more markets in Torit town instead of limiting traders only to the Model market.
The Acting Speaker Assembly Paul Napwon said the Mayor and the minister have to appear before the House.
One of the traders said on Tuesday they petitioned state Governor Louis Lobong Lojore to listen to their complaints.
Traders in the model market closed their shops in protest against opening many markets, saying they lack customers in the last two months.
The traders vowed to keep their shops close until either they are allowed to relocate to Torit-Juba road Market or all other traders relocate to the Model Market.
