The faithful of Rumbek Catholic Diocese on Wednesday turned out in a huge number to celebrate Ash Wednesday marking the beginning of Lent season.
Presiding over the Eucharistic celebration, the Diocesan Coordinator Fr John Mathiang Machol told the faithful to renew their lives, repent and help the needy, Good News Radio reported.
He encouraged Christians to work for unity, pray and listen together to the word of God in the Bible.
Fr Mathiang said ‘as Christians, this is a time to share with one another and help those who need our support’.
Ash Wednesday was also celebrated in St Theresa, Malual-bab and Pachong parishes.
