The African Union High Implementation Panel suspended negotiations between the Government and the SPLM-N on Blue Nile and South Kordofan.

The adjournment was due to a deadlock between the parties over the Panel’s proposal in line with previous directives of the AU Peace and Security Council and the UN Security Council.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Panel said the SPLM-N presented a different proposal which made it difficult to reach an agreement.

The Panel refered the matter to the Peace and Security Council for further guidance because it could not bridge the wide difference between the parties.

It called on the two parties to continue negotiating to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
