MSF to resume operations in Malakal, Bentiu

Medicine San Frontiers or MSF announced that they would soon resume operations in Malakal and Bentiu after shutting down for weeks due to the December 15 unrest that affected their work.
 
MSF South Sudan Country Director Arjan Hehenkamp on Wednesday told the press in Juba that their teams were already on the ground in Malakal and Bentiu, Bakhita radio reported.
 
He said though they closed operations in Malakal and Bentiu MSF continues to operate in Lankeen and Nassir but staff faced difficulties in areas hard hit by the conflict.
 
Mr Hehenkamp called on both conflicting parties to respect humanitarian workers all over South Sudan.
 
The Director said measles outbreak reported in the camps was under control.
 
MSF head of Mission in South Sudan Raphael Gorgeu said despite destructions and looting of MSF places and materials, there were no reports of injuries on their local and international staff.
 
He said both the government and the oppositions granted MSF verbal security grantee. 
 
Mr Gorgeu called for MSF security, respect and safety as its staff provide services to all people regardless of origin.
 
He said MSF would face water and sanitation challenges in the future.
