People of Nuba Mountains in Southern Kordofan State are undergoing constant aerial bombing.
El Obeid Emeritus Catholic Bishop Macram Max Gassis told CRN on Thursday that Khartoum government every day and night use Antonov aircraft to bomb innocent civilians including women, children and the elderly.
He said Nuba are running to hide in caves and they say that it is better to live with snakes and scorpions, than to be killed by bombs.
Bishop Max lamented that Khartoum closed contacts with the Nuba Mountains and blocked humanitarian assistance.
He said Nuba Mountains is now relying on the Church for support.
The Bishop said the guns would not resolve all the burning issues.
He pointed out that religion is not used for killing, when it should be for reconciliation and love.
Bishop Macram Max was speaking in the sideline of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference ongoing in Juba expected to conclude on January 31.
