Fuel shortage hit Juba and affected business of drivers and motorbike riders locally known as boda-boda.

Peter Garang, a boda-boda rider told CRN on Thursday that fuel supply was very low, prompting long queues for a whole day to buy petrol and diesel.

He said the fuel shortage was due to the widening insecurity in the country.

Mr Garang said insecurity in Juba dropped his daily earnings from 120 South Sudanese pounds to 40 South Sudanese Pounds due to displacement of the civil population.

Another motorist Kennedy Onyalla said there were only four petrol stations operating in Juba, proving a threat to transport business.

He added that fuel shortage was coupled with shortage of customers, making it difficult to have business opportunity.

Another business motorist Simon Abui revealed that small scale petrol sellers at the streets are overcharging a litre of petrol at 30 or 25 South Sudanese Pounds.
