The national Crisis Management Committee on Tuesday toured Bor town in Jonglei State to assess the level of destruction.
The Committee chairperson Deng Dau Deng told reporters in Bor town that the visit was to see people returning home, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said they were saddened with the level of destruction in the town.
Mr Dau added that many people were murdered in the hospital, church and residence.
A member of the Committee Akol Paul Kordit said the nature of the destruction in Bor reminded him of the destruction done in First and Second World War.
He described the destructions as an act beyond human comprehension.
Mr Kordit lamented that if this was the way people seek power, then God would not create human being.
National Health ministry Undersecretary Matur Makur Koryom said the hospital and the Egyptian Clinic were totally looted.
He said the drugs store was also attempted but many drugs were not taken.
Dr Makur said mattresses and bicycles were looted, but items in the theatre remained safe.
